Visit Yala National Park for an exciting safari tour. This park is the second largest and one of the most popular national parks in Sri Lanka. It is located in the southeast part of the country, covering areas in both the Southern Province and Uva Province. Yala National Park features many different types of environments, including wet and dry monsoon forests, semi-deciduous areas, thorny regions, grasslands, freshwater and marine wetlands, and sandy beaches. The park is in a dry, semi-arid climate zone.
Yala is home to 215 bird species, with six of them found only in Sri Lanka. It also has 44 types of mammals, making it one of the best places in the world to see leopards, as it has a high density of them. You might spot Sloth Bears, Leopards, Elephants, and Wild Water Buffalos, which are all endangered. Other mammals you can find in the park include Toque Macaques, Golden Palm Civets, Red Slender Lorises, and Fishing Cats.
